What are the rights of a not-at-fault driver after a car crash?

If you are a not-at-fault driver, you may be entitled to a replacement car during the period when your car is being repaired or till your claim of total loss is settled.

What is an accidental replacement vehicle?

Accident replacement vehicle is a rental car provided to you free of charge while your car is being fully repaired, with the at-fault insurance company covering the full cost of the rental.

How do I know if I am eligible for a replacement car?

Who bears the cost for the replacement car?

If you are the not-at-fault driver seeking the replacement car, the at-fault party’s insurance company bears the cost for that car.

What if the at-fault party refuses to pay the bill?

This may happen at times but do not be disheartened if it does. In case of such a scenario, we will commence legal proceedings against the at-fault party or their insurer on your behalf. However we would need your cooperation in terms of providing witness statements, documents or you might have to attend court as a witness if the need arises. We do not charge not-at-fault drivers for the rental cost or legal fees associated with the recovery as long as you assist us in the recovery process or act as per the terms and condition laid down in our agreement.

What all information do I have to provide to hire a replacement car?

Apart from the car accident details, we will certainly need your details including your driving license number, car registration and insurance information. Besides, you will need to provide similar details for the at-fault party.

Do I need to pay anything at all?

We do not charge the not-at-fault party for the rental costs provided they assist us in recovering the costs as per the terms and conditions of our agreement. However, you may have to bear the vehicle use costs like fuel, toll charges, any traffic or parking tickets, car wash, extra wear & tear or damage and administrative costs.

Will I be required to share my credit card details?

We would need your credit card details in case we have to clear your replacement vehicle use costs & other such administrative costs.

Are there any set conditions before I can hire a True Blue car?

Yes, you are required to hold a current and valid license (provisional or full driver’s license). You should also satisfy criteria as detailed in the agreement.
